Growing up in the church, Cortney always found church to be a place of both comfort and challenge, duty and joy, peace and action. It’s a paradox she has chased ever since, leading her ordained leadership. As a lifelong Episcopalian, she is hopeful for the future of the church and she is constantly amazed at the passion and love she finds every day at St. Patrick’s.

Cortney began as Priest-in-Charge at St. Patrick’s in September of 2021 and in January of 2023, she officially became Rector. Before coming to St. Patrick’s, she served as Associate Rector of Christ Episcopal Church in New Bern, North Carolina. She earned her M.Div from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria and a BA in English from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky.

Cortney is married to Jim and they have two young sons, Jimmy and Joshua.
