St. Patrick’s Seeks a New Coordinator for Family Promise (Interfaith Hospitality)

Family Promise Mission: To assist Warren County homeless families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.

Cathy McCracken has served as St. Patrick’s coordinator for over 10 years and will retire at the end of 2021. We need one or two volunteers to coordinate St. Patrick’s hosting of families going forward. The volunteer(s) would assist Cathy on the last two rotations this year in late August and October. Cathy has done an excellent job building a strong support network of St. Patrick’s and area churches that provide evening meals, hospitality, and overnight support for the 4 weeks a year we host.

The coordinator’s role includes communication with Family Promise to prepare for the families that will be sheltered at St. Patrick’s during our week of hosting. They then pass that information onto our volunteers and support church network to ensure the families have an enjoyable and fulfilling stay. Our network includes Lakeview UCC, Tru Kingdom Church, St. Maru Magdalene, LDS Church, and Nexus Church with dedicated coordinators in each.

This mission of St. Patrick’s is very rewarding as we see families that were struggling but now excited about the sustainable life ahead through Family Promise. Through our trained staff the families find permanent housing, available post-shelter support systems, better jobs, and counseling on basic family skills.

Please contact Cathy McCracken or Todd Rockstroh to discuss this opportunity to serve.
